There are few things I love more than a good stripe. They're right up there with my dogs (ok, pretty much ANY dog if I'm being honest) and an ice-cold gin martini on my list of favorite things. As a design element in our homes, they're so versatile and when used in fashion, stripes are always in style. I love stripes so much that I painted the walls in my office in alternating bands of navy and white.
My striped walls provide a neutral backdrop for all of the fun color and patterns I often have spread out all over my office. They're visually interesting enough without being too distracting when I'm trying to focus or pull together a color scheme for a client. I can change out other finishes in the room and add in different pops of color when the mood strikes me and the walls will always work.
I've also used stripes in my client's homes as I did in the bedroom of a young client of mine not too long ago.
Minty green and white stripes were the perfect complement to all of the bright, bold color in this sweet bedroom.
I love tile in a striped pattern as well and vertical black and white stripes in this shower feel so glamorous and modern.
So it's no surprise that I can hardly walk through a clothing store without some sort of striped top or skirt catching my eye. Like a moth to a flame I especially can't seem to resist striped t-shirts. Black and white or navy and white, I must have about a dozen or so of them but I can't ever say no to a new one! Ah well, you find what you love and stick with it, right? That's called having a signature style, not hoarding.
Right now I've got my eye on these striped goodies:
Whether they're a design element in your home or part of your wardrobe (or most of your wardrobe!), you can never go wrong with a good stripe!
